volunteers:

Volunteers are an integral part of our success. Make-A-Wish volunteers assume many of the responsibilities pertaining to wish granting, leadership, fundraising, and public relations.

Wish Granters

Volunteer "Wish Teams" are usually made up of at least two people. Wish Teams can receive up to one wish assignment per week, or as many as their schedules allow. These volunteers work directly with our wish families. They interview the wish child, complete paperwork, and assist in designing the child's wish experience. Wish Teams must be at least 18 years old, and able to attend our Wish Granter training program & yearly update sessions.

Special Event Volunteers

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Mexico is involved throughout the year in events which require volunteer participation. A Special Event Volunteer might be asked to work a Make-A-Wish information booth at a craft show, sell raffle tickets, provide registration assistance at a wish family event, represent Make-A-Wish at a community fundraiser, or assist in other ways on an as-needed basis. Special Event Volunteer opportunities are published in our monthly volunteer newsletter, "Sharing the Power."

Resource Development / Fundraising Volunteers

All funding for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Mexico comes from individual & business donations, grants, memorials, gifts-in-kind, and fundraisers held by our community partners. Fundraising Volunteers play a very important role in our Foundation's success by obtaining sponsorships for events, donations for auction items, grant money from corporations, and by representing Make-A-Wish in their local communities.

Airport Greeters

These helpful volunteers meet wish families at their local airports as they depart and return from their wish trips. Many of our families face challenges that most of us have never experienced. Some of our children are in a wheelchairs or on oxygen, or are dealing with other health-related issues. Some families are not seasoned travellers, and need guidance with maneuvering throughout the airport. Your assistance at the airport will be that "special touch" that will make their experience a little more enjoyable. Airport Greeters are contacted on an "as-needed" basis.

Office Volunteers

With only three paid employees on-staff, we have many volunteer opportunities in our Albuquerque office. These volunteers assist with answering the phone, writing thank-you notes, bulk-mail preparation, data entry, running errands, etc.
We are always happy to have extra help at the office!
